What does tokenkarma track?
Two things, in one place. Your subscription limits: the caps built into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity and Cursor, with 5-hour, daily, weekly and per-model windows collected live along with each reset time. And your API spend, read from the cost reports your providers already publish. 80+ more tools sit in the catalog, so a subscription you forgot about still shows up in your stack.
Do I need an API key?
No, not for subscription tracking: sessions, daily and weekly windows and per-model limits are collected without any key. A key is only needed if you also want API spend tracking. Any key you add is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, displayed masked, and revoking it is a hard delete that takes effect immediately.
Which platforms does tokenkarma run on?
A native Mac menu bar app (macOS 13 and later) and a web dashboard in any browser, synced to one account: add a source once and it shows up in both, with the same reset times, and each number tells you which machine collected it. The Windows app is in beta; join the list on the Windows page to get one email when it opens up.
Is my data safe?
Yes, and you stay in control of every credential. Secrets are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, decrypted only during a collection run, never written to logs, always displayed masked, and revoking one is a hard delete. You can export or erase everything tokenkarma holds about you yourself, and the infrastructure runs on Cloudflare in the EU. The security page documents the architecture.
What does tokenkarma cost?
Two paid tiers: Hobbyist for a couple of sources, and Expert for heavy users who want API spend tracking, full history, alerts across the whole stack and the Claude Code spending caps. Every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Live prices, including the current Early Access pricing on annual plans, are on the pricing page.
How does tokenkarma save me money?
Three mechanisms, and only measured savings are ever counted. Auto-switch runs simple background tasks in Claude Code on a cheaper Claude model and credits the repriced difference (our internal model-mix benchmark cut model costs by 47% to 86%), cheaper-model tips credit a saving only when you follow them, and spending caps stop extra usage at the ceiling you set per session, day, week or month. If nothing was switched and no tip was followed, nothing is credited: the number is a measurement, not an estimate.
Does tokenkarma switch models for me?
Only if you turn auto-switch on, and only downward. By default tokenkarma is read-only: it shows your live usage and costs and alerts you before a cap, without touching your requests. Auto-switch is an opt-in Expert feature for simple background tasks in Claude Code, it never switches upward, and one command turns it off.
